# Enter Forever Glow Aesthetics through its conservation room

> Forever Glow Aesthetics — Skin, time and repair — Forever Glow Aesthetics examines GHK-Cu, skin studies and the wish to preserve an appearance, from collagen experiments to claims about aging.

**Skin, time, and repair**

Close inspection ought to make a glow more interesting. For me, GHK-Cu opens a room full of experiments about the work of repair.

## Skin and the wish to preserve it

The word “forever” asks a lot of a face. It imagines a beautiful surface somehow exempt from time. The upkeep version persuades me: material changing, damage being addressed, a surface with a history still showing through.

That is the attraction of the conservation room for me. Close inspection can make an object more interesting, even when it reveals a seam. Aesthetics gets richer when repair enters the picture. The dream of an untouched finish starts to seem rather dull.

GHK-Cu is the subject here. The questions are about skin, collagen and aging, with room for the awkward results that make a neat story come apart.

## A copper peptide on the bench

In an early experiment, [GHK-Cu increased collagen synthesis in human fibroblast cultures](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3169264/), without changing the number of cells. Fibroblasts are cells involved in producing the tissue scaffold. That result gives the skin-repair story a concrete beginning: something was measured in cells growing in a laboratory.

The [tissue-remodeling review](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18644225/) describes activity involving collagen and elastin production alongside metalloproteinases and anti-proteases, which participate in matrix remodeling. I came expecting an uncomplicated story about adding collagen; the breadth of the repair machinery is more absorbing. An active repair system has several jobs to coordinate.

## Skin and hair studies

The human findings take the collection beyond the culture dish. A [review of topical studies describes improvements in skin laxity, fine lines and wrinkle depth](https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4508379/). A separate [controlled hair study tested a combination containing GHK](https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4969472/) in men with androgenetic alopecia, a pattern of hair loss. Its results concern that combination.

The difficulty this creates for a simple beauty story appeals to me. A cell result, a topical skin finding and a hair count each describe a different kind of change. The differences make the collection interesting. I balk at gathering everything under a single, flattering word like “glow.”

## Explore the collection

[Skin studies](/skin-studies) examines the collagen response reported in the reviews. [Collagen remodeling](/remodeling) visits the culture bench and the broader repair machinery.

[The skin barrier](/skin-barrier) follows the delivery experiments. [Hair studies](/hair-studies) separates a combination trial from an experiment on a related copper peptide. [GHK and aging](/aging) takes up the larger ambition in “forever”: gene expression and the age-related plasma finding. The [reading list](/references) brings the sources together.

At Forever Glow Aesthetics I linger over published research on skin repair; this is an editorial site rather than a treatment business, and nothing here is medical advice.
